US Women and Cuba USSF Schedule
USSF events sponsored by the US Women and Cuba Collaboration:
The US Women and Cuba Collaboration is a national network of more than 30
organizations and individuals committed to building a diverse US women's movement to end the 46 year old US government blockade against Cuba and to normalize relations between our two
countries. By developing the leadership of women from diverse racial, economic, age and sexuality backgrounds, we are working with others to re-build a women's movement that reflects the
true complexion of US society. The Collaboration highlights the treaties, tools, strategies and resources available, examples of campaigns and also how we involve members of our national
network to develop the possibilities to increase global feminism actions to advance women's rights, peace and social justice.

Why Women? Why Cuba? Building a Women's Movement Breakout Room: Our Lady of Lourdes
This two hour workshop will discuss the history and accomplishments of the Cuban
women's movement in the context of the Cuban revolution and the 45 year old war of terrorism that the U.S. has waged against the Cuban people. The workshop will also discuss the role of
Cuba in the world and especially in Latin America and the Caribbean in advancing human rights. We will discuss strategies, campaigns and work that workshop participants can take with them to
build the network of supporters to change U.S. policy towards the Cuban people and to support Cuban women in their advancement of an international women's rights agenda. This workshop
will be conducted in English with a possibility of Spanish translation. Some written materials will be available in Spanish. Panelists for this workshop have travelled extensively in Cuba.
Women in the U.S. and globally are laboring for alternatives to violence, the end of poverty and discrimination, and an emphasis on human development that includes the right to health
care, housing, education and reproductive freedoms which provide the material conditions for full social, cultural and political participation for all. As a result of the Cuban revolution,
the people of Cuba - especially Cuban women - have significantly realized a vision of human development that is a global model. The status of women and girls in Cuba is impressive when
measured according to United Nations standards. However, because of the information blockade, most U.S. women have no knowledge of the advancement of the women's rights agenda in Cuba.
